I trust fire to burn.

I trust fire to burn. I trust it to do what it does.

It can warm me, it can cook my food, it can rejuvenate forests and it can burn down my house.

It can benefit me or it can (appear to) harm me.

But no matter what happens involving fire, the fire is innocent. It’s just doing what fire does. I trust it to do that.

I trust people the same way. I trust them to do what they do. I trust them to think and believe things. I trust them to act in perfect accordance with what they’re thinking and believing. I trust them to do exactly what their beliefs about their thoughts tell them they must do.

If that bothers me, it’s there to wake me up to what I’m thinking and believing.

Then I can work on that.

The universe will never fail to support me in this way. Everything it offers is a gift. I can either recognize it or not. And I’ll know which I’m doing by whether I’m suffering or at peace.

Perfectly trustworthy.
