Love, defined

All I need is love. But it’s important to know what it means to “love.”

To love you means to seek to

  • Accept you as you are

  • Understand you

  • No longer see you as separate

  • Recognize myself in you

  • Know that everything I give to you I am giving to myself, everything I take from you I am taking from myself, everything I say to you I am saying to myself and everything I do to you I am doing to myself.

  • See our common wholeness

  • Understand you as you understand yourself.

  • Allow you to notice that you are safe with me

  • Know I am safe with you, that you cannot hurt me (because that’s my job).

Loving you does not mean I seek to

  • Sustain what you are doing

    • (especially if it isn’t done out of love)

  • Sustain your view of the world

    • (especially if you’re not seeing love)

  • Remain in your presence

    • (especially if it’s missing love)

  • Grant your requests

    • (especially if they won’t bring you love)

  • Comply with your commands

    • (especially if they’re directing me away from love)

Loving you just means I seek for LOVE to be the only tool I ever use to affect anything between us. Not outward SHOWS of love, but actual love inside my heart. Because that kind of love is the only tool that’s capable of...

  • Accessing the truth of who you are

  • Expressing the truth of who I am and

  • Creating a world I can truly live in with you

    • (because it’s the only one completely and utterly rooted in the truth).
